Sunday was a busy day. I was a t church early to prepare the candles for the Candlemass service which was lovely but long. Then the usual spritz following church and off back to my apartment with Caroline and Philip for lunch. We ran out of the apartment at 3.30 for me to catch the 3.31 vaporetto to go to the girls movie night.
There were eight girls and two men, from Belgium, Canada, Germany, United States & England. The hostess told me she was from London, but she overheard me talking to a girl who was a student at Leeds university and I said I lived not too far away, near Halifax. Gabriella said really? Until I came to Venice to study I lived in Hebden Bridge. How amazing is that?
We watched Don't Look Back starring a very youthful Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie, set here in Venice. This was followed by a delicious dinner with wonderful conversations.
I had to leave to get home through the aqua alta as I had just abandoned the house and not cleared away after lunch. My cleaner was coming at 9am Monday morning so I had to clear everything away before going to bed exhausted but happy.
I've been out with the rubbish this morning & it's raining & blowing a hooly .....again. Luckily the hat will cover the hair disaster. I will go out today as there is yet another transport strike tomorrow.
