Thursdays are long days

I don't know why but every Thursday since I arrived has been a very long day, yesterday was no exception.  I was up at 06.45 to get the 08.22 vaporetto to catch the train to Treviso.  it was the moment I became an international speaker!  I was talking about the Calder valley to the International Ladies Group of Treviso.  I didn't have a projector so had to print photographs of the area to illustrate my talk.  The ladies were interested, asked questions and we laughed - always good!

Following the meeting five of us went out to lunch before I caught the train back to Venice.  I walked from the station down the worst street in the world - the Strada Nova - full of tacky shops, as far as Ca' D'oro and caught the gap two stops to the Rialto as I was hot and tired.  Yes the sun was shining it was like a spring day.  I then continued my walk to La Fenice and listened to a free concert by a pianist & clarinetist.  I say listened because I closed my eyes and as I didn't fall off my seat didn't go to sleep.

Following this and a coffee to raise my energy levels it was the Wellington Books book club where we continued to discus Venetian Navigators.  I was home at 21.25 & in bed at 21.30.

Back to photos tomorrow.

This afternoon is my first shift at Wellington Books.  Hope I make some sales!  Will let you know.
