Friday morning I took a walk over the Accademia bridge to book a seat for Carmen at La Fenice. The weather was beautiful so I carried on walking towards the Piazza. On my way there I stopped for lunch at the Biennale bar on the Grand Canal. It has a great view and isn't expensive. A spritz & ham and cheese toast was €10, a bargain.
Below is the bar from the vaporetto.
I then walked into the piazza where workmen were taking down the last of the stage from carnevale.
But there is no scaffolding currently on the basilica.
Travelling up the Grand Canal to the Rialto.
The Rialto Bridge with the old post office behind, now the Fondaco dei Tedeschi, a high end store but looks a like shops at the airport. More of the interior and terrace views later.
I was interested in taking new photos of the bridge, it looks so clean and fresh after it's renovation last year. Also I've been trying to do a jigsaw at home of this exact view. I finally managed to complete the bridge, most of the underside and all but five pieces of the canal. Unfortunately the five pieces do not match the five spaces, I must have some not in the correct places. It hasn't helped that the jigsaw picture is square & the puzzle rectangular!
The angel, plaque and beams and shadows were all difficult.
Sky not started.
