Monday evening I was at the Circolo listening to a talk about John Ruskin and his early flirtation with photography. He was so concerned with the removal of decoration from buildings he was recording the buildings of Venice for posterity. During the talk the flood siren went off - friends in Calder Valley know what that sounds like, but I got home with dry feet
