Wednesday I had lunch at my neighbour Sofia's home with Sara Silvestri. Sara & I then went to the Accademia to see the cycle of paintings by Carpaccio of the legend of Sant' Orsola. They are undergoing restoration in situ by Save Venice Inc. We were told the story of St Orsola, who was betrothed to a prince from Brittany, took 11,000 women with her but was martyred.
