Friday afternoon I worked my first shift at Wellington Books. I had customers. A lady came in to collect ordered books, that was OK I found them. She wanted to pay by debit card and the machine has been playing up this week. I put the amount in, €34.50, not the card, but a ticket came out for €54! I decided it had no numbers on it and her card hadn't been in the machine I hadn't inadvertently put a larger amount on her card.
Back to the beginning and I inputted the correct amount. Phew. Then I had to scan the books into the computer, one was OK the second wouldn't so I wrote down the ISBN number & moved to the till. I said why don't I put it into the till when you've left and you can collect the receipt when you collect your other book?
On my own the items went into the till no problem and I manualy inputted the number. All sorted.
Allora! Here I am with the dreaded scanner! I need to get the knack of where it should hover over the bar code.
I am sure next friday will be easier.
Following work I went to Hilary's for a delicious dinner and a well earned glass of prosecco!

My but you are a busy girl giving a talk in Treviso one day and running a book shop the next. Well done you!
