Carnevale really got started on Saturday, unfortunately it was a terrible day, rain and gales. Sunday was the first big event in Piazza San Marco with the angel, a celebrity flying down a zip wire from the top of the campanile. I walked through the piazza after church and it was busy but I’ve seen more people there. Not many were in costume, I just took a few photos to show you. I will now be avoiding any part of the city where carnevale events are taking place!
